CSU STUDENTS: CSU FACULTY AND STAFF:
Username is your first initial and lastname. Omit hyphens and apostrophes. Examples: Robert Smith = rsmith ; Anna Jones-Smith = ajonessmith ; James O'Reilly = joreilly. Username is the username from your CSU email account, without the @csuniv.edu portion.
Password is your student ID number without the leading zeros. Example: 9999 not 000009999 Password is the password from your CSU email account in lowercase
The file with student usernames and passwords will be created automatically approximately two working days after the last drop/add date for each semester. If you were not registered for the previous semester and need to use the databases before the username file is created, contact the CSU Library Reference Desk at 863-7946 for a temporary username and password. If you have forgotten your CSU email username or password, contact Admin Services at 863-8053. OR, you may use your first initial and lastname as username and faculty ID number as password.
ALUMNI AND NON-STUDENTS:
Off-campus access to most of the resources listed on the CSU Library's Databases webpage is restricted to the currently registered students, faculty, and staff of Charleston Southern University because of licensing and subscription agreements with the database or index providers. Resources marked with free are unrestricted and available to anyone. Alumni and non-students are welcome to visit the CSU Library in person to use the online databases.
PROBLEMS ACCESSING THE DATABASES ???
Contact Eileen Lutzow at 863-7951 or elutzow@csuniv.edu
  • What username and password are you trying to use?
  • What is your full name and student ID number?
  • Which database(s) are you trying to access?
  • Can you connect to any other database(s)?
  • What Internet provider and browser are you using (e.g. AOL (which version?), MSN, Netzero, Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.)? If you have another browser available, try using it.
  • Is your computer behind a firewall (if you are at work, you may need to ask your IT department)? If you are at home, try disabling your firewall.
  • What phone number or email address can Mrs. Lutzow contact you at?
If your username and password do not seem to work, you cannot reach Eileen Lutzow, and you wish to use the databases immediately, contact the CSU Library Reference Desk at 863-7946 for a temporary username and password which will be valid for one week. Ask the Reference Desk to fill out a Database Access Problem Form for you as well and Mrs. Lutzow will contact you.
Note that if the computer you are using is located behind a firewall, you may experience difficulties which are beyond the control of the CSU Library.
